Families want safe parks for our kids to play!

  • There are 20 public playgrounds in South San Francisco.
  • District 1 has 3 playgrounds: Alta Loma Park, Elkwood Park (Duval Dr & Graystone Dr), and Winston Manor #3/Newman & Gibbs Playlot. All 3 of these playgrounds are shown below, along with 2 photos from our City's main park, Orange Memorial Park

** Please notice that 3 playgrounds shown are broken down.

  • Out of 20 public playgrounds, not 1 is located in the Sunshine Gardens neighborhood nor on the East side of El Camino Real, even though the residents have been asking the City for many years to build one.
  • There are 2 playgrounds at Sunshine Gardens Elementary School both are locked up during the day.

When will our kids be prioritized?

Alta Loma Park Slide

The slide at Alta Loma has been broken for close to a year.

The slide at the Orange Park toddler area is broken

UPDATE:

On 9/13/22 I attended the Westborough Community Town Hall Meeting at the

Alice Bulos Community Center. I asked our City Manager about the broken slide at Alta Loma Park, he referred me to Greg Mediati, Director Park & Rec Dept, who indicated the custom slide is on backorder (since November of 2021). I also mentioned the broken slide at Orange Park he was unaware it was broken.

Another issue I raised concern about to our City Manager was our Free SSF Shuttle service not stopping at the Treasure Island Mobile Home & RV Park, that the closest shuttle stop is at BART which is too far for the residents with mobility issues to walk and be able to utilize. I was referred to Marissa Garren, SSF Public Works who mentioned that a survey was in process to accurately assess the needs of  SSF residents .Our concern will be brought up and we will receive an update.
